Corymbus

god of the fruits of the ivy. He accompanied Dionysus in his Bacchic orgies

KORYMBOS (or Corymbus) was the rustic Daimon (Spirit) of the fruit of the ivy. He was a companion of the god Dionysos, whose mother Mystis nursed on the island of Euboia. The two are presumed to have shared the same cradle (like Melikertes in the alternate Boiotian myth of Ino).

Of these figures, Mystis ("of the Mysteries") probably personfied intiation into the Bacchic orgies, while her son Korymbos was the god of the sacred ivy, the plant with which intitiates were crowned.

His name is similar to that of Korybas (Corybas), eponym of the shield-clashing Korybantes, who were the Euboian guardians of the infant Dionysos. He also might be related to the rustic gods Aristaios and Melisseus, both of whom were also described as armed protectors of the infant god.
