The Best All-Time Anime Series !!!

The Best All-Time Anime Series !!!

Many of us get asked the following question:

Which is the best anime series to watch?

Obviously, there is a lot of crap-anime out there.

Hence, so as to answer the aforementioned question, we have compiled a list with the best All-Time anime series out there.

The lists spans from mid ‘90s to today.

Also, as you will go through the list, keep the following points in mind:

1. We will update the list if we (again) come across an anime series worth including in the list.

2. The anime series are in alphabetical order.

3. Many of the anime series in the list also have additional seasons – but for simplicity reasons we will usually make reference to the first season of them (we are sure that you could easily track the additional seasons of an anime that you like of our list).

4. We will also add our own comments so as to help you grasp a better picture of each anime.

5. If you believe that an anime series should be included in our list, leave a comment, at the comment section below, and let us know. smiley

6. … We will add more points, in the future, as they will come to mind …

OK, enough said…

Ready? Let’s go!!!

Akame ga Kill!

Synopsis

Night Raid is the covert assassination branch of the Revolutionary Army, an uprising assembled to overthrow Prime Minister Honest, whose avarice and greed for power has lead him to take advantage of the child emperor's inexperience. Without a strong and benevolent leader, the rest of the nation is left to drown in poverty, strife, and ruin. Though the Night Raid members are all experienced killers, they understand that taking lives is far from commendable and that they will likely face retribution as they mercilessly eliminate anyone who stands in the revolution's way.

This merry band of assassins' newest member is Tatsumi, a naïve boy from a remote village who had embarked on a journey to help his impoverished hometown and was won over by not only Night Raid's ideals, but also their resolve. Akame ga Kill! follows Tatsumi as he fights the Empire and comes face-to-face with powerful weapons, enemy assassins, challenges to his own morals and values, and ultimately, what it truly means to be an assassin with a cause.

Our comments:

Akame ga Kill is not a perfect show and has its flaws; but it is a very good show! It is dark, badass and has a very good storyline going on for it. On top of that, the viewer will care for what might happen to the main characters – and exactly that is an ingredient that makes a show good: if you actually give a damn for the cast. Akame ga Kill is a show that you should consider watching if you have not done so already.

Alderamin on the Sky (Nejimaki Seirei Senki: Tenkyou no Alderamin)

Synopsis

Ikta Solork is a carefree young man who only wants two things in life: a woman on his arm and a place to nap. Unfortunately, his peaceful life is destroyed when war breaks out between the Katjvarna Empire and the neighboring Republic of Kioka. Ikta and his childhood friend, Yatorishino Igsem, join the army as military officers, where they meet the infantryman Matthew Tetojirichi, the sniper Torway Remion, and the medic Haroma Becker on a boat heading for the military exam site.

However, after a rogue storm sinks their vessel, the five of them end up in enemy territory near a military outpost. There, they discover that the heir to the Katjvarnan throne, Princess Chamille Kitora Katjvanmaninik, has been taken hostage. The five are able to rescue her, and as a reward, each one of them is granted the title of Imperial Knight—one of the highest honors a soldier can receive. It seems that Ikta will have to put his dream of tranquility on hold, as he must now become the hero he never wanted to be.

Our comments:

At first you may get the impression that it is a typical battle harem anime, but instead you will get an anime about tactical warfare and two rather unique main characters.

While this is a fantasy military anime, this is of a totally different strain than, say, the Gundam series. If you enjoy seeing what happens behind the action in war scenes, with action scenes involving character's planning counter-actions as much as actual action, this series is one you'll likely enjoy.

Aldnoah.Zero

Synopsis

The discovery of a hypergate on the Moon once allowed the human race to teleport to Mars. Those who chose to settle there unearthed a technology far more advanced than that of their home planet, which they named "Aldnoah." This discovery led to the founding of the Vers Empire of Mars and a declaration of war against the "Terrans," those who stayed behind on Earth. However, a battle on the moon—later called "Heaven's Fall"—caused the hypergate to explode, destroying the moon and leading the two planets to establish an uneasy ceasefire.

Their peace was a fragile one, however. Fifteen years later, high school student Inaho Kaizuka witnesses the plotted assassination of the Vers Empire's Princess Asseylum Vers Allusia, who had come to Earth in hopes of repairing the relationship between the empire and its homeland. The ceasefire is shattered, and the Martians declare war on the Terrans once again. In the face of this insurmountable enemy, Inaho and his friends must now fight against the Vers Empire to settle the war once and for all.

Our comments:

Aldnoah is a good show. But keep in mind that the show is geared more towards teenage audience. Consequently, if you are – let us say – 40 years you might find some flaws over the show and the characters etc. On the other hand, if you are a teenager you will definitely love this show.

Also, keep in mind that it has mechas in it. Meaning that if you do not like this type of shows, skip it. Otherwise, watch it!

Attack on Titan (Shingeki no Kyojin)

Synopsis

Centuries ago, mankind was slaughtered to near extinction by monstrous humanoid creatures called titans, forcing humans to hide in fear behind enormous concentric walls. What makes these giants truly terrifying is that their taste for human flesh is not born out of hunger but what appears to be out of pleasure. To ensure their survival, the remnants of humanity began living within defensive barriers, resulting in one hundred years without a single titan encounter. However, that fragile calm is soon shattered when a colossal titan manages to breach the supposedly impregnable outer wall, reigniting the fight for survival against the man-eating abominations.

After witnessing a horrific personal loss at the hands of the invading creatures, Eren Yeager dedicates his life to their eradication by enlisting into the Survey Corps, an elite military unit that combats the merciless humanoids outside the protection of the walls. Based on Hajime Isayama's award-winning manga, Shingeki no Kyojin follows Eren, along with his adopted sister Mikasa Ackerman and his childhood friend Armin Arlert, as they join the brutal war against the titans and race to discover a way of defeating them before the last walls are breached.

Our comments:

What can someone say about this show anyways… This show is amazing all around. Just keep in mind that it is a serious show. Meaning that: if you like shows with fanservice and that sort of stuff – skip it. On the other hand, if you like serious stuff with amazing action fighting scenes do not think twice: watch it!

Bastard!!: Ankoku no Hakaishin

Synopsis

The kingdom of Metallicana is under attack from the Four Lords of Havoc. This party of villains—ninja master Gara, deadly thunder empress Nei Arshes, cold and calculating Kall-Su, and enigmatic dark priest Abigail—will stop at nothing to get what they want, even if it leaves utter destruction in their wake.

High Priest Geo is desperate to help save the kingdom and its people. He unleashes the mighty wizard Dark Schneider, a man who used to be an ally of the villains. Unfortunately, Dark Schneider has his own plans in mind. Will he stop the Four Lords of Havoc or join them in their conquest of the world?

Our comments:

OK, this is a 6-episodes show. Amazingly enough, there are many that love this show while also, there are also many that hate it.

Here is why:

Dark Schneider, the main (anti)-hero-protagonist is OP and a macho man all the way!

The main protagonist, and the show itself, pisses all over everything that is considered “politically correct”. On top of that, the main protagonist – before obliterating his opponents, trash talks them to a whole new level.

As said: if you love macho, have a great sense of humour and do not mind the main protagonist pissing on everything that is considered ethical… you will definitely love this show!

Beelzebub

Synopsis

Ishiyama High is a school populated entirely by delinquents, where nonstop violence and lawlessness are the norm. However, there is one universally acknowledged rule—don't cross first year student Tatsumi Oga, Ishiyama's most vicious fighter.

One day, Oga is by a riverbed when he encounters a man floating down the river. After being retrieved by Oga, the man splits down the middle to reveal a baby, which crawls onto Oga's back and immediately forms an attachment to him. Though he doesn't know it yet, this baby is named Kaiser de Emperana Beelzebub IV, or "Baby Beel" for short—the son of the Demon Lord!

As if finding the future Lord of the Underworld isn't enough, Oga is also confronted by Hildegard, Beel's demon maid. Together they attempt to raise Baby Beel—although surrounded by juvenile delinquents and demonic powers, the two of them may be in for more of a challenge than they can imagine.

Our comments:

An action-packed show, with great storyline, humour and character development: Beelzebub is basically a must watch. The show loves going over the top but does it in a very smart and humorous way. If you have not watched it so far: watch it!

Berserk (1997-1998)

Synopsis

Now branded for death and destined to be hunted by demons until the day he dies, Guts embarks on a journey to defy such a gruesome fate, as waves of beasts relentlessly pursue him. Steeling his resolve, he takes up the monstrous blade Dragonslayer and vows to exact vengeance on the one responsible, hunting down the very man he once looked up to and considered a friend.

Along the way, he encounters some unlikely allies, such as a small elf named Puck, and Isidro, a young thief looking to learn swordsmanship from the former mercenary. As the ragtag group slowly comes together after having decided to join Guts in his quest, they will face incredible danger unlike anything they have ever experienced before.

Our comments:

Berserk is a show that is geared towards adult audiences. It is dark, brutal and amazing! Although there are new seasons of it (which have brought the animation to today’s standards) we would recommend you to watch the original show. Why? Because the (original) storyline, and the (original) show as a whole, is dimensions apart from the new seasons.

Black Lagoon

Synopsis

A haven for convicts and degenerates alike, the city is notorious for being the center of illegal activities and operations, often fueled by local crime syndicates.

Enter Rokurou Okajima, an average Japanese businessman who has been living a dull and monotonous life, when he finally gets his chance for a change of pace with a delivery trip to Southeast Asia. His business trip swiftly goes downhill as Rokurou is captured by a mercenary group operating in Roanapur, called Black Lagoon. The group plans to use him as a bargaining chip in negotiations which ultimately failed. Now abandoned and betrayed by his former employer, Rokurou decides to join Black Lagoon. In order to survive, he must quickly adapt to his new environment and prepare himself for the bloodshed and tribulation to come.

A non-stop, high-octane thriller, Black Lagoon delves into the depths of human morality and virtue. Witness Rokurou struggling to keep his values and philosophies intact as he slowly transforms from businessman to ruthless mercenary.

Our comments:

Another show that is geared towards adult audiences. The show is serious, brutal, violent, action-packed and just amazing! On top of that, it does not try to water down stuff so as to be ethical or politically correct. When you are presented with the underworld of drugs, prostitution and violence this is what you will get; the entire palette of it. Black Lagoon is an amazing and fast paced show!

Blast of Tempest (Zetsuen no Tempest)

However, Hakaze is banished to a deserted island, and it is now up to Yoshino and Mahiro to help her save the world, while inching ever closer to the truth behind Aika's death.

Our comments:

Blast of Tempest is a very good show all around! From its characters, the development, its action in the right timing – just everything. But what sets this show apart is its amazing storyline and its execution. If you are interested in this type of shows do not hesitate to watch it!

Yuji will have to deal with the horrors of fighting a bloody war as he and the fighters from Second Earth look to survive. Will they be able to win back Earth without losing their humanity?

Our comments:

A post-apocalyptic and futuristic mecha show. It is a show that is geared more towards adult audiences. It is serious, with zero fanservice, and has an amazing plot and character development. If you prefer serious shows rather than light-hearted ones, Blue Gender is definitely the show for you.

Castlevania

Synopsis

He summons an army of demons which overruns the country, causing the people to live lives of fear and distrust. To combat this, the outcast monster hunter Trevor Belmont takes up arms against Dracula's forces, aided by the magician Sypha Belnades and Dracula's dhampir son Alucard.

Our comments:

Castlevania is a show that is actually created in the US; as a matter of fact, it is the only non-Asian (aka, Japanese) show that makes it into the list.

Castlevania is a must watch for anyone that is interested in serious, mature and dark shows. Amazing action, amazing plot and storytelling, amazing characters and… just watch it guys!

Chrome Shelled Regios

Synopsis

In a post-apocalyptic world overrun with mutated beasts called Limbeekoon or Filth Monsters, humanity is forced to live in large mobile cities called Regios and learn to use special weapons called Dite, by harnessing the power of Kei to defend themselves. In the Academy City of Zuellni, Layfon Alseif is hoping to start a new life and forget his past. However, his past has caught the attention of Karian Loss, the manipulative Student Council President and Nina Antalk, a Military Arts student and Captain of the 17th Military Arts Platoon, who instantly recognizes his abilities and decides he’s the perfect candidate to join her group. However, with a secret past that won’t leave him alone and unknown powers beyond normal, Layfon just might not take it.

Our comments:

Generally speaking, Chrome Shelled Regios follows a pattern that has been done before (high school for special individuals, harem, fanservice etc).

Thus, the question is: what makes the specific anime show so special?

Surprisingly, even though it uses many ingredients that have been used before, the show is able to connect them quite beautifully, which leads to the most important factor: a very high entertainment value – and this factor is exactly why Chromes Shelled Regios makes it into the list.

Claymore

Synopsis

When a shapeshifting demon with a thirst for human flesh, known as "youma," arrives in Raki's village, a lone woman with silver eyes walks into town with only a sword upon her back. She is a "Claymore," a being manufactured as half-human and half-youma, for the express purpose of exterminating these monsters. After Raki's family is killed, the Claymore saves his life, but he is subsequently banished from his home. With nowhere else to go, Raki finds the Claymore, known as Clare, and decides to follow her on her journeys.

As the pair travel from town to town, defeating youma along the way, more about Clare's organization and her fellow warriors comes to light. With every town cleansed and every demon destroyed, they come closer to the youma on which Clare has sought vengeance ever since she chose to become a Claymore.

Our comments:

Claymore is a Shounen, Action, Adventure anime in a Fantasy, Medieval setting. The story basically revolves around a specific Claymore “Clare”, and her companion “Raki”, as she goes from town to town, slaying monsters known as Yoma.

Claymore is all-around an amazing anime show (character development, action, story, plot etc). Keep in mind though that it is geared more towards adult audiences which also shows in the fact that it is a serious with no fanservice whatsoever.

If you like this type of anime shows, watch it – hands down!

Code:Breaker

Synopsis

Riding the bus one day, Sakurakouji Sakura looks out the window to see people being burned alive with a blue fire and a boy her age who's unharmed and standing over the people.

She comes back to the site the next day and there are no corpses or evidence of any kind of murder, just a small fire. She then goes to class to find there's a new transfer student, Oogami Rei, who looks exactly like the boy she saw before and wears a black glove only on his left hand.

Oogami is a Code Breaker, one who "does not exist". He is a seemingly cold-blooded killer who follows the principle of "an eye for an eye", to "use evil against evil". Convinced that killing is not right, Sakurakouji sets out to stop him and penetrate his icy heart.

Our comments:

The specific anime show has a good visual quality, nice characters and well-choreographed battle scenes.

The balance and the dynamic between Humor, Action and a little bit drama is done wonderfully and keeps the audience’s attention, throughout the anime.

In short: they may be similar shows out there but Code Breaker manages to stand above them; thus, making it into the list.

Realizing the vast potential of his newfound "power of absolute obedience," Lelouch embarks upon a perilous journey as the masked vigilante known as Zero, leading a merciless onslaught against Britannia in order to get revenge once and for all.

Our comments:

OK, for the specific show, we are not going to say much about it, except for this: Watch it!

Cowboy Bebop

Synopsis

The Inter Solar System Police attempts to keep peace in the galaxy, aided in part by outlaw bounty hunters, referred to as "Cowboys." The ragtag team aboard the spaceship Bebop are two such individuals.

Mellow and carefree Spike Spiegel is balanced by his boisterous, pragmatic partner Jet Black as the pair makes a living chasing bounties and collecting rewards. Thrown off course by the addition of new members that they meet in their travels—Ein, a genetically engineered, highly intelligent Welsh Corgi; femme fatale Faye Valentine, an enigmatic trickster with memory loss; and the strange computer whiz kid Edward Wong—the crew embarks on thrilling adventures that unravel each member's dark and mysterious past little by little.

Well-balanced with high density action and light-hearted comedy, Cowboy Bebop is a space Western classic and an homage to the smooth and improvised music it is named after.

Our comments:

All in all, Cowboy Bebop is an anime that belongs in the top tier of the greatness scale, and a show we believe every anime fan should watch. Music, story, characters, plot…. Just amazing!

Deadman Wonderland

Synopsis

It looked like it would be a normal day for Ganta Igarashi and his classmates—they were preparing to go on a class field trip to a certain prison amusement park called Deadman Wonderland, where the convicts perform dangerous acts for the onlookers' amusement. However, Ganta's life is quickly turned upside down when his whole class gets massacred by a mysterious man in red. Framed for the incident and sentenced to death, Ganta is sent to the very jail he was supposed to visit.

But Ganta's nightmare is only just beginning.

The young protagonist is thrown into a world of sadistic inmates and enigmatic powers, to live in constant fear of the lethal collar placed around his neck that is slowed only by winning in the prison's deathly games. Ganta must bet his life to survive in a ruthless place where it isn't always easy to tell friend from foe, all while trying to find the mysterious "Red Man" and clear his name, in Deadman Wonderland.

Our comments:

Deadman Wonderland is a very good and unique show albeit being geared more towards adult audiences.

The only issue we had was that it took some time for the main protagonist to cope with the circumstances and to get his act together. But once he does, it is just WOW from that point onwards.

Death Note

Synopsis

A shinigami, as a god of death, can kill any person—provided they see their victim's face and write their victim's name in a notebook called a Death Note. One day, Ryuk, bored by the shinigami lifestyle and interested in seeing how a human would use a Death Note, drops one into the human realm.

High school student and prodigy Light Yagami stumbles upon the Death Note and—since he deplores the state of the world—tests the deadly notebook by writing a criminal's name in it. When the criminal dies immediately following his experiment with the Death Note, Light is greatly surprised and quickly recognizes how devastating the power that has fallen into his hands could be.

With this divine capability, Light decides to extinguish all criminals in order to build a new world where crime does not exist and people worship him as a god. Police, however, quickly discover that a serial killer is targeting criminals and, consequently, try to apprehend the culprit. To do this, the Japanese investigators count on the assistance of the best detective in the world: a young and eccentric man known only by the name of L.

Our comments:

Death Note is an amazing show and considered, by many anime fans, to be one of the best shows out there.

The only issue we had was that once a “specific” character is no more (if we say more, we will spoil it), it loses some of its dynamic.

Should you watch it? Definitely yes!!!

D.Gray-man

Synopsis

Losing a loved one is so painful that one may sometimes wish to be able to resurrect them—a weakness that the enigmatic Millennium Earl exploits. To make his mechanical weapons known as "Akuma," he uses the souls of the dead that are called back. Once a soul is placed in an Akuma, it is trapped forever, and the only way to save them is to exorcise them from their vessel using the Anti-Akuma weapon, "Innocence."

After spending three years as the disciple of General Cross, Allen Walker is sent to the Black Order—an organization comprised of those willing to fight Akuma and the Millennium Earl—to become an official Exorcist. With an arm as his Innocence and a cursed eye that can see the suffering souls within an Akuma, it's up to Allen and his fellow Exorcists to stop the Millennium Earl's ultimate plot: one that can lead to the destruction of the world.

Our comments:

D.Gray-man is an anime show, in the genre of demons and exorcists, that takes its liberty of how to illustrate things.

Interesting, unique and amazing. If you can sit through 103 episodes then you better start watching it!

Elfen Lied

Synopsis

Lucy is a special breed of human referred to as "Diclonius," born with a short pair of horns and invisible telekinetic hands that lands her as a victim of inhumane scientific experimentation by the government. However, once circumstances present her an opportunity to escape, Lucy, corrupted by the confinement and torture, unleashes a torrent of bloodshed as she escapes her captors.

During her breakout, she receives a crippling head injury that leaves her with a split personality: someone with the mentality of a harmless child possessing limited speech capacity. In this state of instability, she stumbles upon two college students, Kouta and his cousin Yuka, who unknowingly take an injured fugitive into their care, unaware of her murderous tendencies. This act of kindness will change their lives, as they soon find themselves dragged into the shadowy world of government secrecy and conspiracy.

Our comments:

Elfen Lied is geared more towards adult audiences. You just can't find many anime series that took the risk that Elfen Lied did; it is something that just doesn't come around that often. If you like stories that are serious and are also character driven, you should definitely watch it!

Ergo Proxy

Synopsis

Thousands of years ago, a global ecological catastrophe doomed the planet; now, life outside these domes is virtually impossible. To expedite mankind's recovery, "AutoReivs," humanoid-like robots, have been created to assist people in their day-to-day lives. However, AutoReivs have begun contracting an enigmatic disease called the "Cogito Virus" which grants them self-awareness. Re-l Mayer, granddaughter of Romdo's ruler, is assigned to investigate this phenomenon alongside her AutoReiv partner Iggy. But what begins as a routine investigation quickly spirals into a conspiracy as Re-l is confronted by humanity's darkest sins.

Elsewhere in Romdo, an AutoReiv specialist by the name of Vincent Law must also face his demons when surreal events begin occurring around him. Re-l, Iggy, Vincent, and the child AutoReiv named Pino, will form an unlikely faction as they struggle to uncover Romdo's mysteries and ultimately, discover the true purpose of the mythical beings called "Proxies."

Our comments:

Ergo Proxy is one of the most enjoyable and serious series out there. The story is so complex and can, at times, be very agonizing because you are just so clueless as to what is going on. Then, usually, by the end of the episode or by the next episode all of your questions and doubts about what is going on will be answered. Not to mention the fact that the series is a real psychological mind-boggling experience.

If you want to watch an anime show that falls more into the serious categories of shows out there, Ergo Proxy is a must watch!

Eureka Seven (Koukyoushihen Eureka Seven)

Synopsis

In the backwater town of Bellforest lives a 14-year-old boy named Renton Thurston. He desires to leave his home behind and join the mercenary group known as Gekkostate, hoping to find some adventure to brighten up his mundane life. However, stuck between his grandfather's insistence to become a mechanic like him and the pressure of his deceased father's legacy, the only excitement Renton finds is in his pastime of riding the Trapar wave particles that are dispersed throughout the air, an activity akin to surfing.

Everything changes when an unknown object crashes through Renton's garage, discovered to be a Light Finding Operation—a robot capable of riding the Trapar waves—specifically known as the Nirvash typeZERO. Its pilot is a young girl named Eureka, a member of the Gekkostate, who requests a tune-up for the Nirvash. Their meeting sparks the beginning of Renton's involvement with the Gekkostate as he takes off alongside Eureka as the co-pilot of the Nirvash.

Our comments:

In all seriousness, what can someone say about Eureka Seven, except this: In its genre, it is one of the best shows out there! A must watch!

Fafner of the Blue Sky (Soukyuu no Fafner: Dead Aggressor)

Synopsis

Tatsumiyajima is the central island in the middle of a small cluster of islands, in a sleepy backwater of the Japanese isles. Not much happens there, and the island's young people go to school knowing that their lives are likely to remain peaceful and undisturbed. Or so they have been taught... but the truth is different.

The fate of mankind is on the line, and Tatsumiyajima is the last line of defense against a hostile and incomprehensible enemy. At the center of it all, fighting for Humanity's continued existence, is the giant robot Fafner, the dragon that guards this final treasure of mankind.

Our comments:

Although it was hardly advertised (i.e. lack of media attention), Fafner's success was undeniable. Just ask yourself this: how many anime (or how many anime done by Xebec to be more precise) actually got a prequel/sequel to further expand on the story? Well Fafner is one of those! With a touching and solid story, this anime is definitely one of the "emo-est" shows ever created! A must watch!

Fate/stay night

Synopsis

After a mysterious inferno kills his family, Shirou is saved and adopted by Kiritsugu Emiya, who teaches him the ways of magic and justice.

One night, years after Kiritsugu's death, Shirou is cleaning at school, when he finds himself caught in the middle of a deadly encounter between two superhumans known as Servants. During his attempt to escape, the boy is caught by one of the Servants and receives a life-threatening injury. Miraculously, he survives, but the same Servant returns to finish what he started.

In desperation, Shirou summons a Servant of his own, a knight named Saber. The two must now participate in the Fifth Holy Grail War, a battle royale of seven Servants and the mages who summoned them, with the grand prize being none other than the omnipotent Holy Grail itself.

Fate/stay night follows Shirou as he struggles to find the fine line between a hero and a killer, his ideals clashing with the harsh reality around him. Will the boy become a hero like his foster father, or die trying?

Our comments:

Fate/Stay Night has a marvellous backstory, beautiful characters, very good character development and solid action.

The only issue we have is that at some points the plot brings with it some generic characteristics like: weak MC that eventually becomes strong or that good vs evil becomes so clear cut instead of grey shaded.

Overall though it is a very good show that makes it easily into the current list of all-time best anime shows out there.

Fullmetal Alchemist (Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood)

Synopsis

Edward Elric, a young, brilliant alchemist, has lost much in his twelve-year life: when he and his brother Alphonse try to resurrect their dead mother through the forbidden act of human transmutation, Edward loses his brother as well as two of his limbs. With his supreme alchemy skills, Edward binds Alphonse's soul to a large suit of armor.

A year later, Edward, now promoted to the fullmetal alchemist of the state, embarks on a journey with his younger brother to obtain the Philosopher's Stone. The fabled mythical object is rumored to be capable of amplifying an alchemist's abilities by leaps and bounds, thus allowing them to override the fundamental law of alchemy: to gain something, an alchemist must sacrifice something of equal value.

Edward hopes to draw into the military's resources to find the fabled stone and restore his and Alphonse's bodies to normal. However, the Elric brothers soon discover that there is more to the legendary stone than meets the eye, as they are led to the epicenter of a far darker battle than they could have ever imagined.

Our comments:

Fullmetal Alchemist has actually two shows out there: the original and the later one (which is more true to the manga and has better animation due to the fact that it was shot years after the original).

So, which one should you watch? Both, obviously.

But if you were given only one option? Our personal preference would be the original one; although the anime community is basically split between the two of them.

Finally, how would we best describe Fullmetal Alchemist (original or the later show) in one word?

AMAZING!!!!!

Full Metal Panic!

The organization is powered by the "Whispered," individuals who possess intuitive knowledge and the remarkable ability to create powerful devices and machinery.

Seventeen-year-old Sousuke Sagara, a sergeant working for Mithril, has been assigned to protect Kaname Chidori, a Whispered candidate. He is ordered to join her high school class and be as close to her as possible to prevent her from falling into enemy hands—that is, if he can safely blend in with their fellow classmates without revealing his true identity.

Sousuke, who was raised on a battlefield and has very little knowledge of an average high school student's lifestyle, must adapt to a normal school life to safeguard Kaname. However, enemy forces have already begun making their move, and Sousuke is about to find out that the adversary coming for the Whispered girl may be a lot more familiar than he expects.

Our comments:

Full Metal Panic has many elements that can be found out there like: harem, mecha, fanservice etc.

But what makes it stand out from the rest?

The character dynamics and above all: the enjoyment value just shoots above the roof!

Gantz

Synopsis

Thought your life was bad? Sometimes, death is worse. There is no salvation, peace, nor god waiting to receive you into their care. But wait, a god? Maybe you are talking about that big black ball stuck in the room with you. Now you are thrown into a game, fighting green aliens and robot monsters for the chance to survive.

When Kei Kurono is killed, he thus finds himself caught in such a game—a test of his skills, morals, and will to survive. His life is not his own; his death is spat and trampled upon over and over again. What happens if he does not listen? God knows.

A word of warning: Gantz is not for the faint-hearted, but neither is it as simple as it looks. Gore, rape, and violence is rampant, as are portrayals of greed, violence, and all the ugliness that one sees in society today.

Our comments:

Gantz is a very dark and absurd show. Gantz has harsh depictions of reality or basking in its scattered brutality and rampant depravity. You will either love or hate Gantz. If you are used to nice anime shows in which deaths are not illustrated much, here, you will get to see everything in detail (just to bring forth an example).

Up to you to decide but Gantz makes it into the list anyway.

Ghost in the Shell (Koukaku Kidoutai), 1995

Synopsis

In the year 2029, advances in Cybernetics allow people to replace nearly all of their body parts and organs with robotics. Through these prosthetics, the weak are made strong, and the dying are given new life. Public Security Section 9 of Niihama City (a fictional setting inspired by Hong Kong), a diverse team of AI, cyborgs and unmodified humans, must investigate cases of corruption and terrorism. Major Motoko Kusanagi has full-body prosthetics, owing to a childhood accident. She, her second in command Batou and information specialist Ishikawa have been assigned an important task: to investigate a hacker known only as "The Puppetmaster." But as Motoko and her team discover, things are never so simple.

Ghost in the Shell is a futuristic thriller with intense action scenes mixed with slower artistic sequences and many philosophical questions about one's soul, gender and human identity in such an advanced age of technology.

Our comments:

Please note that we are referring to the movie that practically started all series afterwards.

That being said…

With great action and an intelligent narrative, “Ghost In The Shell” is a classic. It inspired “The Matrix” and anyone who has seen that film will know how great of a compliment that is. If you're into philosophical discussions about the soul and the consequences of technological evolution, see this film. If you just want to see a bunch of cyborg cops shooting stuff up, see this film. If you are looking for something amazing, watch this film!

Guilty Crown

Synopsis

Japan, 2039. Ten years after the outbreak of the "Apocalypse Virus," an event solemnly regarded as "Lost Christmas," the once proud nation has fallen under the rule of the GHQ, an independent military force dedicated to restoring order. Funeral Parlor, a guerilla group led by the infamous Gai Tsutsugami, act as freedom fighters, offering the only resistance to GHQ's cruel despotism.

Inori Yuzuriha, a key member of Funeral Parlor, runs into the weak and unsociable Shuu Ouma during a crucial operation, which results in him obtaining the "Power of Kings"—an ability which allows the wielder to draw out the manifestations of an individual's personality, or "voids." Now an unwilling participant in the struggle against GHQ, Shuu must learn to control his newfound power if he is to help take back Japan once and for all.

Guilty Crown follows the action-packed story of a young high school student who is dragged into a war, possessing an ability that will help him uncover the secrets of the GHQ, Funeral Parlor, and Lost Christmas. However, he will soon learn that the truth comes at a far greater price than he could have ever imagined.

Our comments:

Guilty Crown is an all-around amazing show.

The only issue we have with it is this:

It starts as a solid 8.5/9 anime and somewhere around episode 8, or 9, for roughly 6 episodes it “decides” to go into school-life and falls to a 6.

Then, it picks itself up and jumps back into a solid 9 anime show.

No idea what the creators had in mind (seriously, what the f***)…

Is it worth watching? Definitely, yes!

Gungrave

Synopsis

Brandon Heat and Harry MacDowel, two friends so close they could be called brothers, receive an abrupt and violent reminder one fateful day of how appallingly merciless the world around them can be. Their whole lives before then were simple and easygoing, consisting largely of local brawls, seducing women, and committing petty theft to make a living and pass the time. What they failed to realize is that in this cruel world, happiness is fleeting, and change is inevitable.

Enter Millennion, the largest and most infamous mafia syndicate in the area, which accepts Brandon and Harry into their ranks and starts them at the bottom of the food chain. Harry has ambitions to ascend the ranks and one day replace Big Daddy as the supreme leader of Millennion, while Brandon only wishes to support his friend and appease Big Daddy who has taken custody of the woman Brandon loves.

Based off the third-person shooter video game under the same name, Gungrave is an epic story of friendship, betrayal, and avarice that spans the course of several years, ultimately tying back to the gripping and foreboding first episode, all the while building up to the story's thrilling conclusion.

Our comments:

In a nut shell: try to mix Scarface, The Godfather, Versus, the Yakuza PS2 games, Skullman, Cowboy Bebop and Trigun, then you got this anime.

Watch it!

Hellsing

Synopsis

Hellsing, an organization specializing in dealing with supernatural threats, is called in to eliminate a vampire that is turning the villagers of Cheddar into ghouls. To put an end to this, the leader of the organization, Sir Integra Fairbrook Wingates Hellsing, dispatches her most formidable asset: a powerful vampire known as Alucard.

Armed with only a single handgun, Alucard wreaks havoc on the monsters plaguing Cheddar. However, a young police officer, Seras Victoria, gets caught up in the chaos and becomes mortally wounded as a result. Taking pity on the girl, Alucard gives her a choice: die as a human or live on as a vampire. Seras accepts his offer and begins a new life as a member of Hellsing.

Though it was her decision, Seras struggles with the fact that she is no longer human. Nevertheless, she must embrace being a creature of the night soon if she wants to survive on the front lines in the fight between humans and the supernatural.

Our comments:

This is not your typical Vampire anime. Alucard (***spoilers ahead*** which stands for Dracula, written in reverse) is a macho, OP main anti-hero-protagonist.

If you are into politically correctness or ethical stuff, avoid this anime.

Why?

Because Hellsing teaches you one main lesson: The strong rule while the weak die!

If you have no issues with that… watch this amazing show!

An amazing (mecha-type) anime all the way – Watch it!!!

***cough cough***

Heroic Age is one of the anime shows that we love!

So, you might say that our judgement might be biased… yet, it does not change the fact that it is one of the best all-time anime shows out there!!!

History's Strongest Disciple Kenichi (Shijou Saikyou no Deshi Kenichi)

Synopsis

"Weak Legs" Kenichi Shirahama would rather spend his time reading self improvement books than fighting. However, when he finally works up the courage to become strong and join his school's karate club, he is coerced into fighting a bullying upperclassman who is intent on getting him kicked out of the club. He is about to give it all up until he falls for his mysterious new classmate, Miu Furinji.

In order to face this challenge, he undergoes rigorous training at the dojo she lives at, Ryouzanpaku. Some initial training by the masters there allow him to defeat his upperclassman, however his fighting prowess brings him to the attention of the powerful gang of delinquents, Ragnarok. Wishing to protect the things he loves and determined to have the strength to face the increasing adversity, he must learn various martial arts from the dojo's resident masters, taking Karate, Muay Thai, Ju Jitsu and Chinese Martial Arts and combining them to create his own fighting style!

Our comments:

All in all, Kenichi is one of those rare anime shows out there that is able to blend in comedy with the overall serious plot extremely well. In the end, once you watch the final episode of this anime, it will take you five seconds or so to wish that there would be more of it (well, there is the manga of course).

Enjoyment value shoots through the roof and is a must watch anime show!

Knights of Sidonia (Sidonia no Kishi)

Synopsis

After destroying Earth many years ago, the alien race Gauna has been pursuing the remnants of humanity—which, having narrowly escaped, fled across the galaxy in a number of giant seed ships. In the year 3394, Nagate Tanikaze surfaces from his lifelong seclusion deep beneath the seed ship Sidonia in search of food on the upper levels, only to find himself dragged into events unfolding without his knowledge.

When the Gauna begin their assault on Sidonia, it's up to Tanikaze—with the help of his fellow soldiers and friends Shizuka Hoshijiro, Izana Shinatose, and Yuhata Midorikawa—to defend humanity's last hope for survival, and defeat their alien foes. Sidonia no Kishi follows Tanikaze as he discovers the world that has been above him his entire life, and becomes the hero Sidonia needs.

Our comments:

Knights of Sidonia is a serious anime with zero fan service and is geared more towards adult audiences.

What is so peculiar about it, is its animation style. It will get you a couple of episodes to get used to it.

So, where does it leave us?

If you are into a show that is plot driven, Knights of Sidonia is a must watch!

KonoSuba: God's Blessing on This Wonderful World! (Kono Subarashii Sekai ni Shukufuku wo!)

Synopsis

After dying a laughable and pathetic death on his way back from buying a game, high school student and recluse Kazuma Satou finds himself sitting before a beautiful but obnoxious goddess named Aqua. Choosing to start a new life, Kazuma is quickly tasked with defeating a Demon King who is terrorizing villages. But before he goes, he can choose one item of any kind to aid him in his quest, and the future hero selects Aqua. But Kazuma has made a grave mistake—Aqua is completely useless!

Unfortunately, their troubles don't end here; it turns out that living in such a world is far different from how it plays out in a game. Instead of going on a thrilling adventure, the duo must first work to pay for their living expenses. Indeed, their misfortunes have only just begun!

Our comments:

KonoSuba is definitely one of the best (comedy) anime shows out there. It just takes its main protagonists and pisses all over virtually everything; and it does so in a very smart and successful way.

Over the top yet, amazing!

Watching it, you will crack laughing non-stop!

Last Exile

Synopsis

In the world of Prester, flight is the dominant mode of transportation, made possible by Claudia Fluid: a liquidized form of the crystals that are produced on the planet. Moreover, as ecological disasters destabilize the warring countries of Anatoray and Disith, the Guild also arbitrates in the disputes between the two. Caught in the middle of the conflict are Sky Couriers, piloting small, two-person vanships that fly freely through the sky.

Last Exile follows the adventures of two teenagers who dream of surpassing their parents: Claus Valca, son of a famous vanship pilot, and Lavie Head, Claus' best friend and navigator. Their job as couriers entails passing through an air current called the Grand Stream that separates the hostile nations, which even standard airships struggle to survive. However, when they take on a high-rated delivery to bring an orphan girl named Alvis Hamilton to the battleship Silvana, they get dragged into a much greater conflict that pits them against the might of the Guild.

Our comments:

Last Exile is a Steampunk type of anime show.

So, if you are into fanservice and mainstream anime shows, avoid it.

On the other hand, if you prefer serious shows with an amazing plot, character development, a show that breaks away from the ordinary and has many tones of steampunk, Last Exile is a must watch show!

Our comments:

When it comes down to Gundam anime shows you will either love them or hate them.

Mobile Suit Gundam 00 is 1, of only 2, Gundam series that make it into the list.

Overall:

If you can sit through some politics (typical with Gundam series), enjoy having your morals questioned and are willing to keep an open mind, it's a fantastic series and it is a highly recommend show. As many have said: it's an excellent Gundam series to start off with.

We say: a must watch!

Moribito - Guardian of the Spirit (Seirei no Moribito)

Synopsis

On the precipice of a cataclysmic drought, the Star Readers of the Shin Yogo Empire must devise a plan to avoid widespread famine. It is written in ancient myths that the first emperor, along with eight warriors, slew a water demon to avoid a great drought and save the land that was to become Shin Yogo. If a water demon was to appear once more, its death could bring salvation. However, the water demon manifests itself within the body of the emperor's son, Prince Chagum—by the emperor's order, Chagum is to be sacrificed to save the empire.

Meanwhile, a mysterious spear-wielding mercenary named Balsa arrives in Shin Yogo on business. After saving Chagum from a thinly veiled assassination attempt, she is tasked by Chagum's mother to protect him from the emperor and his hunters. Bound by a sacred vow she once made, Balsa accepts.

Seirei no Moribito follows Balsa as she embarks on her journey to protect Chagum, exploring the beauty of life, nature, family, and the bonds that form between strangers.

Our comments:

This isn't a light-hearted series, but it also doesn't become overly dramatic. It doesn't focus so much on action that it gives up areas of the story, and it never lets the story become so bland that you get bored of watching. It's an interesting show to watch and the pacing of the show, as well as the slow delve into Balsa's past (Balse is the main protagonist), serve to ensure that you keep watching.

A show highly recommended to individuals who like shows like Claymore, Slayers, or even Rurouni Kenshin or Sword of the Stranger. It's an extremely enjoyable example of how good a fantasy series can get if you do it right, and because of its characters, it will appeal to fans of many different genres.

Genos proposes that the two join the Hero Association in order to become certified heroes that will be recognized for their positive contributions to society, and Saitama, shocked that no one knows who he is, quickly agrees. And thus begins the story of One Punch Man, an action-comedy that follows an eccentric individual who longs to fight strong enemies that can hopefully give him the excitement he once felt and just maybe, he'll become popular in the process.

Our comments:

Seriously, what can someone say about this over the top yet amazing show?

Any criticism to it is being removed with just one punch (lol).

In all seriousness: if you want to watch a light-hearted fun and amazing show that pisses on everything and makes fun out of anything… it’s a must watch!

Rurouni Kenshin

Feared as a merciless killer, he was unmatched throughout the country, but mysteriously disappeared at the peak of the Japanese Revolution. It has been ten peaceful years since then, but the very mention of Battousai still strikes terror into the hearts of war veterans.

Rurouni Kenshin: Meiji Kenkaku Romantan tells the story of Kenshin as he strives to save those in need of saving. However, as enemies from both past and present begin to emerge, will the reformed killer be able to uphold his new ideals?

Our comments:

Rurouni Kenshin is one of our favourite anime shows (especially the second season of it).

But there are a few things that you need to keep in mind.

One, the original manga was completed but recently a new arc has begone.

So, how does it affect the anime show?

Here is the thing:

Rurouni Kenshin has 3 seasons and a few OVAs.

And this is what we recommend to you:

In regards to the OVAs ditch them and do not bother watching them. They were originally created to please fans but they try to (unsuccessfully) lump an entire season into an OVA or have nothing to do with the original manga.

In regards to the anime series:

Season 3, ditch it and do not watch it. It was done in hopes to let the manga go more ahead of the anime series – but season 3 has nothing to do with the original story. It is more a filler season.

In regards to Season 1 and Season 2:

These 2 seasons are following the manga and the original story.

If we were asked which one of the two to watch, it would be season 2. But, season 2 assumes that you have watched the first season thus, a lot of character development, and character introduction has been done in the first season.

But once you hit season 2, the show becomes just: WOW, WOW, WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!

In short: watch season 1 and season 2. These two seasons are definitely a must watch!!!

Samurai 7

Synopsis

Through dangerous encounters and a bit of luck, seven samurai of varying specialties and experience are gathered for an epic battle against the bandits and the merchants that influence them.

Samurai 7 is based loosely upon Kurosawa Akira's famous movie "Seven Samurai"/"Shichinin no Samurai"

Our comments:

In short: this is an amazing anime show and above all, it is not afraid to kill off some of its (likeable) main characters.

If you are into this type of anime genre, it is a must watch!

Samurai Champloo

Synopsis

Fuu Kasumi is a young and clumsy waitress who spends her days peacefully working in a small teahouse. That is, until she accidentally spills a drink all over one of her customers! With a group of samurai now incessantly harassing her, Fuu desperately calls upon another samurai in the shop, Mugen, who quickly defeats them with his wild fighting technique, utilizing movements reminiscent to that of breakdancing. Unfortunately, Mugen decides to pick a fight with the unwilling ronin Jin, who wields a more precise and traditional style of swordfighting, and the latter proves to be a formidable opponent. The only problem is, they end up destroying the entire shop as well as accidentally killing the local magistrate's son.

For their crime, the two samurai are captured and set to be executed. However, they are rescued by Fuu, who hires the duo as her bodyguards. Though she no longer has a place to return to, the former waitress wishes to find a certain samurai who smells of sunflowers and enlists the help of the now exonerated pair to do so. Despite initially disapproving of this idea, the two eventually agree to assist the girl in her quest; thus, the trio embark upon an adventure to find this mysterious warrior—that is, if Fuu can keep Mugen and Jin from killing each other.

Set in an alternate Edo Period of Japan, Samurai Champloo follows the journey of these three eccentric individuals in an epic quest full of action, comedy, and dynamic sword fighting, all set to the beat of a unique hip-hop infused soundtrack.

Our comments:

Samurai Champloo is another (hip-hop) Samurai anime show that makes it into our list.

Samurai Champloo is a show for everyone. Plenty of great sword-slashing action, clever comedy, and a good share of moments that will tug at your heartstrings — often all at once. If you enjoy anime, this is one you can't miss.

Seraph of the End: Vampire Reign (Owari no Seraph)

Synopsis

Having lost his parents, eight-year-old Yuuichirou Amane is taken in by the Hyakuya Orphanage, where he struggles to bond with his new "family." However, this soon becomes the least of his worries, when a major pandemic suddenly strikes, killing all above the age of 13. Taking advantage of the chaos, vampires—who previously laid dormant underground—rise up and enslave the surviving humans, using them as livestock to harvest blood.

Four years later, Yuuichirou and his family have adjusted to life under vampire control, although Yuuichirou still aspires to kill all vampires and end their reign of terror. This often puts him at odds with fellow orphan Mikaela Hyakuya, who emphasizes using wit and ingenuity to survive. Having garnered favor among high-ranking vampires, Mikaela gains inside knowledge and uses this to plan a daring escape. But during the attempt, the group of orphans is intercepted by vampire officer Ferid Bathory, who proceeds to massacre them.

Yuuichirou is the only member of the group to escape to the surface, where he is discovered by the Moon Demon Company, a military unit dedicated to hunting down vampires. Given an invitation to join, Yuuichirou swiftly accepts, finally being presented an opportunity to achieve his ambitions and avenge his family.

Our comments:

Although Seraph of the End brings with it many generic aspects it succeeds in combining them effectively and the enjoyment value is what makes this show stand above the rest of its genre.

If you are interested in a post-apocalyptic vampire-hunter-military type of anime, this show you should watch!

Shakugan no Shana (Seasons 1, 2 and 3)

Synopsis

The world has become a slaughtering ground for the Crimson Denizens, mysterious beings from a parallel universe who thrive on the life energy of humans. These merciless murderers only leave behind scant remainders of souls called "Torches," which are mere residues that will eventually be destroyed, along with the very fact of the victims' existence from the minds of the living. In an ambitious endeavor to put an end to this invisible, hungry massacre, warriors called Flame Hazes relentlessly fight these monsters.

One fateful day, Yuuji Sakai ceases to be a regular high schooler—he becomes trapped in a crevice of time and is suddenly attacked by a Denizen. Coming to his rescue just in the nick of time is a nameless hunter who seems no different from an ordinary young girl except for her blazing eyes and burning crimson hair. However, before Yuuji can learn anything more about his situation, he discovers that he has already been reduced to a Torch—merely a scrap of memory waiting to be extinguished.

Our comments:

This is a great anime to watch with characters that begin to grow on you after a while, that is very successful in every single aspect, and it's also a must watch for any tsundere fan out there as well.

Rage of Bahamut: Genesis (Shingeki no Bahamut: Genesis)

Synopsis

Thousands of years ago, the ancient dragon Bahamut wrought havoc upon the land of Mistarcia, a world where both gods and demons live amongst mankind. Working together to prevent the world's destruction, the rival deities barely managed to seal Bahamut, agreeing to split the key between them so that the dragon would remain eternally imprisoned.

With the world safe from the destruction of Bahamut, it is business as usual for bounty hunters like Favaro Leone. Living a laid-back, self-serving lifestyle, the amoral Favaro goes about his work while on the run from fellow bounty hunter Kaisar Lidfard, a righteous man who swears vengeance upon Favaro. However, Favaro's carefree life is thrown into chaos when he meets Amira, a mysterious woman who holds half of the key to the world's fragile peace.

Shingeki no Bahamut: Genesis tells the story of a group of unlikely heroes who find themselves caught in the middle of an epic clash between gods and demons, forced to carve their own path in the face of the imminent storm.

Our comments:

Coming completely out of the left field, Shingeki no Bahamut: Genesis was the surprise hit of the 2014 fall season. We simply cannot give enough praise to Studio MAPPA for their creativity and talent in creating a show that defies all expectations making it one hell of a ride.

A must watch show!

There's not much more that can be said without ruining some aspects of the story but what you get is 25 episodes of brilliance. Just keep in mind though that it is a very serious show, no fanservice or stuff of that sort.

Soul Eater

Synopsis

Death City is home to the famous Death Weapon Meister Academy, a technical academy headed by the Shinigami—Lord Death himself. Its mission: to raise "Death Scythes" for the Shinigami to wield against the many evils of their fantastical world. These Death Scythes, however, are not made from physical weapons; rather, they are born from human hybrids who have the ability to transform their bodies into Demon Weapons, and only after they have consumed the souls of 99 evil beings and one witch's soul.

Soul Eater Evans, a Demon Scythe who only seems to care about what's cool, aims to become a Death Scythe with the help of his straight-laced wielder, or meister, Maka Albarn. The contrasting duo work and study alongside the hot headed BlackStar and his caring weapon Tsubaki, as well as the Shinigami's own son, Death the Kid, an obsessive-compulsive dual wielder of twin pistols Patty and Liz.

Soul Eater follows these students of Shibusen as they take on missions to collect souls and protect the city from the world's threats while working together under the snickering sun to become sounder in mind, body, and soul.

Our comments:

Easy to watch and a great mix of creepy, surreal and fun. We do recommend this show to anyone who enjoys Full Metal Alchemist or Gintama - or, for that matter, any shounen manga/anime - as well as anyone who enjoyed the quirks of such series as Ouran High School Host Club.

Steins's Gate (+ 1 OVA)

Synopsis

The self-proclaimed mad scientist Rintarou Okabe rents out a room in a rickety old building in Akihabara, where he indulges himself in his hobby of inventing prospective "future gadgets" with fellow lab members: Mayuri Shiina, his air-headed childhood friend, and Hashida Itaru, a perverted hacker nicknamed "Daru." The three pass the time by tinkering with their most promising contraption yet, a machine dubbed the "Phone Microwave," which performs the strange function of morphing bananas into piles of green gel.

Though miraculous in itself, the phenomenon doesn't provide anything concrete in Okabe's search for a scientific breakthrough; that is, until the lab members are spurred into action by a string of mysterious happenings before stumbling upon an unexpected success—the Phone Microwave can send emails to the past, altering the flow of history.

Adapted from the critically acclaimed visual novel by 5pb. and Nitroplus, Steins;Gate takes Okabe through the depths of scientific theory and practicality. Forced across the diverging threads of past and present, Okabe must shoulder the burdens that come with holding the key to the realm of time.

Our comments:

Stein’s Gate is an anime that by the end, once you finish watching it, your chin will hit the ground. This show is a masterpiece all around.

Just be warned:

Until roughly episode 10 you may get the impression that you are not watching anything special. Besides a few hints towards its greatness, what you get until episode 9, or 10, is something like slice-of-life type of anime and a lot of character development.

Nevertheless, once you hit the 10 episodes mark, Stein’s Gate hits its high gears and the show goes ballistic. On top of that, everything that you did watch until episode 10, and appeared to be boring stuff at first, goes full circle and everything connects in the end – turning the first 10 episodes crucial to the entire story.

Stein’s Gate is one of our favourite shows and a classic, a masterpiece, a must watch!

However, in a cruel turn of events, the players soon realize they cannot log out; the game's creator has trapped them in his new world until they complete all one hundred levels of the game.

In order to escape Aincrad, Kirito will now have to interact and cooperate with his fellow players. Some are allies, while others are foes, like Asuna Yuuki, who commands the leading group attempting to escape from the ruthless game. If you do not mind to see some very gory violence (blood, severed limbs, decapitation) you will enjoy this show. Though with all the violence, it really makes Trinity Blood more engaging and much deeper. It's just not the same without it. Trinity Blood is one of the very few series that will engage you emotionally.
